Mālama days bring families, schools and volunteers together for shoreline cleanups and native planting. They are open to all ages and are often the best first step for anyone new to Hoʻōla Hāniʻo.
The kānāwai for wai guides this work: when the source of water is dirty, the dirt is carried to sea. What we do on land shows up on the reef.

The Kuehukahe koʻa is a fishing shrine on the shore at Hāniʻo. It is a sensitive cultural site that should be respectfully visited, and its care is part of a management plan to mālama the on-shore koʻa and the cultural sanctuaries in Kalaeloa.
The coastline here also holds springs and sinkholes and the traditional natural lagoons of Ko Olina.

Bring water, sun protection and closed-toe shoes.
